Adult Behavioral and Chemical Dependency Services

Northeastern Center offers a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for adults (ages 18 and older) with acute psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues. Our treatment team provides 24-hour monitoring, treatment and stabilization for individuals who may be struggling with problems such as:

  • Anxiety/Panic
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Depression
  • Drug/Alcohol abuse or dependency
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Psychosis/Schizophrenia
  • Suicidal/homicidal thoughts

Inpatient care is designed to stabilize individuals as quickly as possible and return them to an improved level of functioning. Our hospital treatment programs focus on stabilizing individuals, providing education about their illness, and helping them to develop coping skills to deal with issues related to the need for hospitalization. Treatment at Northeastern Center includes group and family therapy, medication management and a variety of other activities including recreation, socialization, and expressive therapies. Northeastern Center uses evidence-based, outcome-driven treatment care models.

Our integrated treatment team includes psychiatrists, internists, registered nurses, case managers/social workers, activity therapists and behavioral health specialists who work closely with each patient to formulate individual treatment goals and assess progress. All patients at Northeastern Center are assigned to a Case Manager who arranges follow-up care in the community based on each patient’s needs.

Adult inpatient treatment programs at Northeastern Center provide care and education for individuals who have mental health problems, substance abuse issues, or a combination of both. Many individuals seeking treatment at our facility struggle with a psychiatric illness compounded by a history of chemical dependency. Treatment in the hospital for an individual with substance abuse problems may initially include medically supervised detoxification, followed by a comprehensive co-occurring disorder treatment program. We introduce patients to the 12-Step Model and give them tools to help them maintain their sobriety.
